When you build a website outside of social media, you do two very good things for your business or cause:

1. You stop being dependent on the platform's algorithm to promote your site. You're now more easily promoted through links from other websites and person to person sharing with a readable URL (web address) that people will remember as unique to you.

2. You are immediately creating more opportunities for your content to be found in search engines. Search engines love stable/static pages that actually have what people are searching for. When you have content that isn't mixed up with everybody else's, this makes it easier to find.

Your site will attract visitors who want to see what you have to offer, not just what's popular or trending on the platform.

You will have the freedom to create the sort of content that satisfies you and serves your viewers. Once they are there, you already know that they are interested, so you don't have to convince them to be into your topic. They wouldn't be there if they weren't. You can focus on the quality.
